memory upgrade= no monitor response

I have a Dell Optiplex GX 260
2.4 ghz
1 gb
40 gb hdd

i tried to install an additional 512 mb and when i powered the computer back on i got no response from my monitor.
i need some help. any ideas?

Remove the new ram and see if it boots Ok! If so then check the new stick is the same specs as the old. Sounds like its not.

Yea, check maximum supported size of ram your mobo has. Also check if it has the same specs of your previous rams. Otherwise only use your new ones (I suppose they'll be bigger)
