Abit IP-95 RAM Troubles

Hey everyone. I'm new to the forums and I am hoping for some help. I have recently been extremely frustrated as to why my new RAM isn't working. I am running XP and my motherboard is an Abit IP-95. It says it supports DDR2 PC4200 533, so that is exactly what I bought. I purchased two sticks of 2GB Crucial RAM and for whatever reason they do not work. The computer simply does not boot up. In addition, I have my two old RAM cards that are PC5300 667, and those are not even supported by the motherboard. If you are thinking "so just buy more pc5300", I already tried and they didn't work either. If someone could please try to help, I am on my last nerve and I could use some helpful assistance.

Re: Abit IP-95 RAM Troubles

Does it work if you just install a single stick? Also, check if there's a setting in the BIOS that determines whether the board is running on DDR or DDR2 memory. Also, a CMOS reset couldn't hurt; follow the instructions in the manual: http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/downl...ET_TYPE=LGA775

Re: Abit IP-95 RAM Troubles

I couldn't find a setting that changed it from DDR to DDR2 memory, and the old memory is DDR2 as well so it should just work. A signle stick at a time doesnt seem to work either. I reset my CMOS also but it still wont detect the RAM.

Re: Abit IP-95 RAM Troubles

Sorry to dig up an old post.

FAO Indyboy91 if you're still reading the board.

Did you managed sort this out? I also purchased two sticks of 2GB Crucial RAM before to use on an IP-95 and mine wont boot either. It gets as far as the vista loading bar and thats where it stays. I can run one on it's own but I've stopped trying to use the pair as it looses the boot files for some reason.
Anyways, if you are still here and you have fixed it I'd be very interested to know how.

Cheers,
Matt
