New RAM not detected
I recently ordered 2 of these 1GB sticks (http://www.memoryprous.com/ProductDe...tCode=1GB266HD), and tried to install them into my PC (http://support.mpccorp.com/apps/comp...o=3260026-0001).
Being a total "computer decking out" newbie, that probably wasn't too smart. My motherboard specifications (http://support.mpccorp.com/apps/specs.asp?ID=3245) say it can take DDR SDRAM 266, which is what I supposed the two sticks I bought were. I installed them in securely and clamped them in as well. However, when I boot up my computer, the motherboard does not detect either of the two sticks, and, even when one is paired with my old 256MB stick, it causes the motherboard to detect neither of them (there are only 2 slots in my PC). When it doesn't, it automatically decreased my memory size to 32MB, so the computer becomes verrry slow until I remove all sticks except the old one. Therefore, the motherboard can detect the 256MB one when I remove the new ones, so I am inserting them securely and correctly. Is there something I should try doing to help the motherboard detect them? Clueless, and stuck with a useless (currently) purchase!
