Fan ?

Well yesterday i installed a new powersupply 405 watt reccommend at a shop as i needeed a new one for my graphics card which i also got. An geforce 8800 GT

now one of the fans is on constantly i checked behind the pc and i think its the cpu fan although im not sure but before this i never heard a sound this is rather annonying any ideas ?

You are probably hearing the fan either in the PSU or the new video card or both, I think 405w is a little small for an 8800GT I'd expect to see more like a 650 watt power supply.

I know i did mention it to one of the people in the shop but he said it would be fine u dnt really need to spend more money on it

was gonna get 600w so shall i just get a bigger psu or is there a way to stop the fan from being on constantly ?

The video card needs the fan to cool it big card = more power = more heat to dissipate,
That being said some cards are quieter than others, but first you need to determine if it's the video card or the psu that is loud. What brand and model power supply did you get?
And what brand and model 8800gt is it?
To find out if it's the psu or the video card I would remove the card and go back to what you had either onboard or your old card if the noise is still there then if it is coming from the area of the psu (where the cord plugs in) It's probably going to be the PSU.
