Need help diagnosing my PC.

A few days ago I installed a new graphics card (8800 GT) and everything was running smoothly. However, the next morning I found that my PC was switched off so I just assumed it was a power cut or something through the night. I went and switched it back on and after the XP splash screen it went to the desktop and then suddenly switched off. My first thoughts were that I didn't have a powerful enough PSU for the 8800 so I removed it and tried switching the PC on again. The same thing happened. HELP!!!

Processor: AMD 64 X2 5600+
RAM: 2x 1024MB DDR2
PSU: Fortron/Source ATX 400W, 120mm Fan, SATA, 20/24 Pin
GPU: LeadTek PX8800 GT

Hey Shredface and welcome to TSF...
I am pretty sure that your PSU is not enough for 8800GT too...
SO the best way to check is to borrow form a friend more powerful PSU and test it...
But maybe I could be wrong...
Could be overheating too...
How old is your PC???
Did you clean it lately from dust inside the case???
Open the case and check heatsink on your CPU...
If it is dusted, blow dust with compressed air...
Also, if was dusted, would be nice to replace thermal paste...
Make sure you remove old one with alcohol...
Also check this out:

http://http://www.techsupportforum.c...selection.html

You should read this and it will be easy to decide what kind of PSU you need for your PC...
Hope this will help you mate...
