Question on installing ram
Hi I have a question about installing ram. I just got a new computer with one gig of ram in it. I use DDR DIMM. It has 2 banks in my computer with two slots on each bank. right now the first and 3rd bank have a 512MB stick in it. I want to upgrade the ram. Id like to put another 2 gigs in it. SO would I put one gig stick in the 2nd and 4th slot. Or would I have to move the 512s to slot 2 and 4 and the gigs in 1 and 3? Or do I have to keep the ram all the same amd get either all 512s or all gigs?. I know your supposed to install in pairs so I was going to put the gigs as a pair and the keep the two 512s in my comp as a pair, so that would equal 3 gigs. please let me know what combination I can use. I know my computer allows up to 4 gigs but I dont want to take the two 512s out and put all gigs in there cause to much and I only need 3 gigs. I probably only need 2 gigs but id like to have an extra gig to enhance preformance. Thank you guys for your time sorry for the detailed question.
