Pc monitor wont turn on tried everything.
my monitor wont come on with my windows xp service pack 2 system. i bought some ram a few weeks back and it was kingston value ram at 2.5v and it worked great no problems at all but i have an extra slot for some more so i thought why the hell not get more. i got some more ram a few days back and it was the same and fits well. only it says kingston 2.6v instead of 2.5 so i was a little unsure but never saw the harm. i installed it and my computer came on fine i checked to see if the computer recognised it and it didnt so i turned it off and i was going to check if i installed it correctly i changed it around and switched them both around and now my monitor wont come on but the tower is fine. the light on the monitor just goes yorange rather than green and the keyboard lights have gone too they flicker on for a split second when when i turn the power on at the tower but thats it. i hooked this laptop to the monitor to check if it was that but it works fine so it isnt that.
ive read other threads and tried everything like unplugging mains and holding power button in for 1 minute whilst motherboard is connected. ive checked ram for loose connection and graphics card ive even tried starting without them. my computer used to beep like once on startup which has always done even from original purchase so thats normal but now it doesnt at all. :( ive also tried taking the battery out and putting it back nothing seems to work im really stuck. any help would be great. thanx :) |

Re: Pc monitor wont turn on tried everything.
hi there i tried what you suggested earlier i removed all the ram and turned it on. it started as normal but never beeped and the monitor is still not responding. it comes on with the green light for a split second and then back to orange as it makes a clicking sound and goes back into standby mode by the looks of it.
i also tried removing the graphics card aswell as the small circular battery too and tried it and still no beeping. so i think their ok. i also tried the cutting off all power supply from the mains and holding the power button in to drain any excess power. and still nothing. any help would be great. thanx for replying. :) |
