Dual Channel mess up =(
I've been trying to upgrade my RAM from a the normal 1gb when i made it to 4gb. I realized about halfway since i started that one of my slots had singe marks on it, and therefore dismissed the idea of using kits (or at least using one of the kits on that pair). Much to my dismay, I remembered that my motherboard (Asus P5N32-SLI Deluxe) was a dual channel motherboard. I bought RAM that was under the right specifications for this motherboard (DDR2, 533/667/800, PC5300) and none of them worked. It was only after i bought the exact same type of ram (Corsair Value Select), but in a kit (i used the kit on the pair of slots that didnt have one of the slots singed), so now, I have 2 twin 1gb dual channel (if that really makes a difference) sticks in where the dual 512mb sticks used to be. Before i discovered the singe marks, i had bought 2 sets of the 2x1gb kits, and after realizing that the marks were there, i took out only the one that was in the bad slot, and the system ran perfectly with 3gb of RAM.
I recently tried returning one of the kits, and buying the exact same ram, but only a single 1gb stick (same brand, Corsair Value Select), and when i turned on my computer I got a blue screen within 10 minutes, then everything ran ok once i started it up again, until i tried to play some games. Once i tried playing Counter Strike Source, the computer started lagging and glitching (repeating audio sounds like that annoying buzzing sound) and kept doing that until i finally shut down the computer and took out the extra stick of ram. Does dual channel RAM really differ from normal RAM? and if so, does it mean that the only way to get myself up to 3gb of ram is to buy a kit? Thank you to whoever takes the time to read this =D

Re: Dual Channel mess up =(
also, now that I've taken out the extra stick of RAM, the computer seems to still be acting up.
