Reading Ram
Hey again.
I'm looking to upgrade my RAM from 512 to 1 gig. I have 2 x 256 sticks in there now and I'm thinking about getting 2 sticks of 512. I MAY keep the 512 that I have installed in it now and try it out at 1.5 gigs. Anyway, the RAM I have in it now is DDR 400 MHz. That would be classified as pc3200, right? |

Re: Reading Ram
PC3200 is DDR SDRAM specified to operate at 200MHz using DDR-400 chips with a bandwidth of 3200 MB/s. (from wikipedia...lol)
DDR is Double Data Rate, making the 200mhz operate at 400mhz. If your motherboard can utilise memory in Dual Channel mode you are better with either 2 sticks or 4. When buying memory to compliment what you already have, buy the exact same kind. If all your RAM is identical your system will perform better, with less risk of conflicts and errors. |
