Is it possible to DL something to raise my Ram Allotment
I tried to add a gig of ram to my pc, but it rejected it. The Bios screen kept popping up, then finally (nob, did ya get that yet) some where it said 512mb is the max. Is there a download out there? I'm running xp serve 3, 733 mhz, Pc is a Performance 733 from gateway.
Then on top of that I get "No Support for CPU extention SSE2" when trying to download cs3. I'm stuck

Re: Is it possible to DL something to raise my Ram Allotment
at 733 MHZ, you have a VERY, VERY old machine (on the brink of extinct). There isn't much at all you can do with something like that anymore, you probably have a slot 1 pentium 2 or worse.
I suggest looking at a new machine.....

Re: Is it possible to DL something to raise my Ram Allotment
Yea, thats what I thought. I mean it is pentium III, and does have 3 slots availble for memory so I figured maybe something I could do.

Re: Is it possible to DL something to raise my Ram Allotment
exactly what motherboard do you have? Most likely the max your system would run is 256 or 512 megs of ram (fi you are lucky). You can go to crucial.com and do a search to find out what your system will hold.
IMO, save money and get a new system.

Re: Is it possible to DL something to raise my Ram Allotment
Ok, sorry so long. Here it is:
* Maximum Memory Capacity: 512MB * Currently Installed Memory: 512MB * Available Memory Slots: 0 * Number of Banks: 3 * Dual Channel Support: No * CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel * CPU Family: Intel Pentium III processor Model 8, Stepping 3 * CPU Speed: 730 MHz * Although it is physically possible to install more memory, the system will only recognize the maximum listed. Installing more memory may cause major problems. Consult the system's manufacturer for more information. I think I gotta get a new tower, I'm trying to run atleast 8 of the programs on Adobe cs3 Master Collection, but not 100% sure of what I need to get. Kinda broke, I know I need to stay away from Amd. |

730 MHz PIII is soooo yesterday. Considering my computer's running a pair of 3,000 MHz cores......
