Question Help please?

I am considering building a new computer and need some help.

I was looking at getting the video card shown here or something higher up the chain:

http://www2.pny.com/9600-GT-512MB-PCIe-P2575C331.aspx

and was looking at this power supply shown here:

http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=22650

the video card in the first link and others on up the chain require A minimum 400W or greater system power supply (with 12V current rating of 26A) or higher Amps.. Now the power supply in the second link says it does

Output Voltage Load Range Reg Ripple & Noise
Min Max
+5V 0A 24A ±3% 50
+12V1 0A 22A ±3% 120
+12V2 0A 22A ±3% 120
+12V3 0A 25A ±3% 120
-12V 0A 0.5A ±7% 120
+5VSB 0A 3A ±3% 50
+3.3V 0A 24A ±3% 50

The main question i have is when the video card requires 12V current rating a 26A or higher Amps from the power supply, is it talking about total over amp rating on the entire power supply or just on 1 12v line?

Re: Help please?

@wrench97

After reviewing your suggestion, I noticed this on the PSU specs on newegg:

"Dedicated single +12V rail offers maximum compatibility with latest components"

I think this phrase alone answers my question... I don't think modular cabling is the way to go for high end systems with those video cards, is that a correct assumption?

Also, not to argue at all, but is there something wrong with Antec PSU's that I should know? (you mentioned your not recommending Antec at this time)

One more thing, I have noticed a lot of forums referring users to the cosair PSUs' lately, are these the new high quality king of the block so to speak?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Re: Help please?

The Corsair's lately with the rebates have been the better value there also a rebate on PC Power & Cooling units right now too.

Antec seemns to have changed some things of late seen a lot of complaints.
Mod cables can help keep your case tidy so all looks neat through the side window.
They can also help with air flow in smaller cases.

Re: Help please?

My team mate wrench97 has given you great advice. The Corsair and PC Power & Cooling along with Seasonic are all top of the line units and the best out there IMHO. Follow his advice, he is correct.
