Ah, the old Dell PSU question AGAIN!
Dell only puts enough ram and PSU in their pc's to get them out the door and off the shelf. The PSU will barely have enough power for the factory installed hardware. Many fail during the first year of service. Start adding fans, more ram and extra drives and you quickly run out of power. Low power can result in hard drive errors, crashes, BSOD's and all sorts of hate and discontent, lost data, etc. That 350w supply might put out an honest 250w under all-day, full-load conditions. ![]() Maybe! ![]() I'd be opting for at least a 500w supply or larger if you can afford it. Especially, if you're thinking that you may be adding more hardware to your system. (more RAM, an extra Hard Drive, more case fans, etc.) I'm replacing a 480w supply in my own PC, because I've just added 2 gig's of DDR2 ram and I'm putting in two more SATA2 hard drives. This is all in addition to my two DVD burners, floppy drive and flash card reader. There's no such thing as having TOO MUCH power, but you sure as heck can have TOO LITTLE! ![]() Good Luck, The Shadow ![]() By the way, I'm installing an "Antec Earthwatts 650" psu. It can deliver 450 watts on its three 12v rails. http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=27650
