Radeon Cable?
I just put in new power supply and fan from Dell and now I'm getting "radeon cable unplugged". I called Dell support and all they said was to make sure video card is plugged into MB. I did that and same thing. The power supply is correct one ordered by PC number. What else can I do for this issue? Could I possibly have something plugged in wrong on ps?

Re: Radeon Cable?
Thank you so much for your reply. The computer is a Dell 8250. I would have to look it up to see what video card they put in. I've taken it apart several times now and checked everything. I'm sure I plugged all the PS plugs in where they were. Could that be the problem if one is not plugged into the correct place? The codes I get are yellow, green, yellow, green.
Thanks again for any help you might be. Have a great fourth. ![]() |

Re: Radeon Cable?
yellow, green, yellow, green. Is indicating a video card problem if you still have the original card it won't have a aux. power power plug.
Did you you try removing the card and using a clean eraser gently clean the contacts, also using a can of compressed air blow out the motherboaed slot, Then reinstall the card. What problem caused you to change the power supply? http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8250/advanced.htm#1084976

Re: Radeon Cable?
Original problem, the PC would turn on and then turn right back off. I checked and PS and heat fan were not moving. Last night I took the vid. card out and cleaned it good and then put it back in and powered on and fan on card not moving. I took cable from floppy and hooked it on aux. to card and PC booted up. Only on long enough to boot up and I shut it down and checked card and it was very hot as fan still not working on it. I ordered new vid card from Dell. I hope that will fix it.
Thanks for your reply. |

When it starts getting noisy, I take it all apart and gently clean the little blades with Q-tips weted with household Ammonia, till they are shiny clean. Then I use a hypodermic needle to inject a couple of drops of fine machine oil, right thru the label on the back side of the fan. That label covers the bearing cavity. (DO NOT remove the label) Inject the oil, spin the blade a few time to start the oil migrating into the bearings and reassemble. I've done it several times already on my Video Card fan and many times on my CPU fan and Hard Drive Coolers. I've even saved fans that were completely STUCK. Just a drop or two of oil can greatly extend the life of a fan. No use replacing an expensive video card for the lack of a $.50 fan. Not in my book anyway![]() I'm a professional technician....I fix things....I hate having to just replace something that maybe could be fixed. I also save dirty and failing ram by just washing it. That too, is not in the PC users handbook. ![]() ![]() Good Luck, The Shadow ![]()

Re: Radeon Cable?
Thanks again for your info. Yes, there is an aux. plug on the upper right corner of the card that fits the floopy plug. I didn't know they had one either until I had it out and got to looking at it. I will try the oil trick. I have done that before on the heat fan and it worked. I appreciate your time to respond. Thanks a lot.
