Computor restarts frequently
I am facing a problem in my PC since last two months which is 2 years old. It gets restarted when I connect it to internet or play music or play games. Some noise appears from back of computor CPU. Also its getting heated up too much. Can anybody help me out.
I have p4 processor with windows XP installed. RAM of 512 MB. Some times when computor restarts I get message " the computor recovered from serious problem...." Last edited by rajat9691; 07-02-2008 at 10:35 PM. Reason: more feedback |

Re: Computor restarts frequently
Post complete system specs, including power supply wattage and
brand. You said noise coming from back of pc. Right off the bat makes me think power supply failing. Post temps, if its been running 2 years, could need cleaning and re application of thermal grease on you cpu hsf. Use speed fan, or something similar to monitor temps...

Re: Computor restarts frequently
If heatsink fan bearing is failing you'll get the noise, the overheating and, once the processor is overheated, the system will shut off.
For powersupply fan, put your hand at back of powersupply and see if you feel any air movement. If none, then Manic is right on the money. If moving air then pull case cover off and see if noise is more centered around your heatsink/cpu fan.
