Computer Restarts!! Help

my computer tends to restart randomly....mostly when playing games or while watching a movie...i have no idea why.. is it cause of my graphics card or the power supply? also there is no error screen...it just goes of and then starts again....

specs:

Amd 3000 xp+
Asus Motherboard..
2 gb ram
Geforce 7300 gs
500 w psu...

the power supply fluctuates quite a bit at home/...and i have a 500 w ups... is this sufficient or do i need a ups upgrade?

Re: Computer Restarts!! Help

Hi dasarpiah,
what make/model is your PSU and UPS???
When you clean case from inside last time???
Heat-sink on processor is maybe dusted so you should check that...
Open the case and clean heat-sink with vacuum cleaner or with compressed air if it is dusted...
Also, if you are skilled enough, replace termal paste that is applied on processor...
Make sure you clean old paste from top of the processor. You can do that with alcohol...
Also do not put too much paste, just a little...
One more thing, touch case just next to PSU and check if it is hot...
Hope this will help you mate...

in addition, use speedfan or BIOS to report to us the temperatures as well as voltages.

For proper support: what are you running? video card, cpu, m/board, ram, power supply, brand, wattage, any error message?
PCI-E requires 26 amps at 12 volts. That's a 650W PSU.
Power Supply Info and Selection . Info on thermal compounds & application . TEST PSU USING MULTI-METER
