In the past couple of weeks my computer has been acting really strangely. It crashes so no apparent reason, and I've gotten the BSOD on more than one occasion. At first I thought it was virus or spyware, but my scans came up empty. Then I realized I had just installed 4gb of new ram, so I decided to check it using memtest86+. The test was not able to complete because the computer crashed before it could finish. Then I tested each ram module individually and they all came up clean. I put them together again, and the computer crashed again. I'm really not sure what the problem is..can anyone help? Thanks

Re: RAM Problem?
We need more information. List your complete specs including motherboard, video card, processor, the power supply brand name and wattage.
Also, download and run SensorviewPro and report the voltages when you first start up. Then, check the temps when at idle and then when the computer is working hard like playing a game. Report back with results/questions/concerns.

Re: RAM Problem?
Two things really stick out:
1st, a Hipro power supply is very weak and might be taking on you. Go in to the bios and check the voltages in there and report them back to us. Also, your temps are way out of line, so check those in the bios also. How long since you have blown the dust bunnies out of the heatsink and fans????

Re: RAM Problem?
Uh I went into BIOS and searched around but I'm not really sure where to find the voltages.
For temperatures I got CPU- 85°C/185°F and System- 90°C/°195F. (Not sure if this is right though) Heh haven't really taken the time to clean it out. What would be the best way? Compressed Air? Thanks again. Last edited by Visage : 06-29-2008 at 09:49 PM. |
