RAM problems
Hi all,
I have recently purchased a new computer with the following specs: Quad core Q6660 Asrock 4core1600p35 wifi 4x1GB corsair dominator 1066Mhz Jetway Geforce 9600GT I have managed to set it up and get in running but im having major issues with the RAM. The first issue is that if I plug all the RAM in the computer will not boot everthing seems to run but there wil be nothing displayed on the monitor. It works fine when i plug 3 of 4 in. I have updated the BIOS but made no difference. The next issue is that when the RAM i splugged in i cannot get it to run at 1066 speed if set to Auto will detect the RAM at 667 but can change it to 800. I have set the FSB to 1066 timing 5-5-5-15 and and voltage to 2.1 (also tried 2.2v). When I try to set the ram frequency the only options I have are DDR 667 or 800. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Nick |

Re: RAM problems
UPDATE:
I was able to get the ram running at 1066 problem was that the motherboard uses jumpers and had them set to 1333 rather then 1066 read the manual wrong. But in fixing this it has surfaced yet another problem. Now when I occupy 3 of the ram slots i will get the boot logo but nothing else and I cant enter bios and doesnt progress. If two slots are used its fine boots perfectly. the same problem is happening with 4 slots no output to the monitor. |

Re: RAM problems
Yeah i originally had the jumpers set incorrectly but have since changed then to look like the picture posted.
This made 2gb of RAM operate at the correct speed 1066 in ram slots 1 and 3 but if i plug the 3rd stick in it will lock up at the boot logo and 4 sticks will have no image on monitor at all. |

Re: RAM problems
I choose this RAM mainly because it was on special from the shop I was buying from and read some reviews and seemed like good RAM. My motherboard supported 1066 RAM and had 4 DDR2 slots so couldn't see any problems.

Re: RAM problems
The reason I asked is because Corsair's memory configurer does not list you motherboard
usually not a good sign it will work. If I were you I would return it and try some RAM matched to your board. Almost all the major memory manufactures have a configurer on there web site find one that lists your board and then go shopping with the part number it gives you.
