Upgrading my HP Pavilion DV2315nr
Hello
I own a dv2315nr hp laptop which is supposed to have 2gb as its maximum memory. According to one site I visited, the laptop can only use up 1gb per slot. The computer came with two 512mb cards. Yesterday, I bought and installed a 2gb memory in one slot of the computer and left the other 512mb in the second slot; hence, making the total memory 2.5gb. When I turned on the computer to check on the specifications, it said that my computer is running on 2500MB memory. is it really possible when the supposed maximum memory is just 2gb? I'm really confused with this. Thanks in advance for your time and answers.:) |

Re: Upgrading my HP Pavilion DV2315nr
In the old days the motherboard did limit the memory.
Nowadays most computers can hold up to 2GB per slot. Laptops maybe less, but most desktops are built for 2GB sticks and some can hold 4GB sticks. If your vista x64 machine is your laptop, you can have up to 4GB I would think. Although HP may cap it at 3GB for legacy (x86) reasons.
