Toshiba Satellite p15s420 problems
I have a Satellite p15s420 notebook, with a p4 ht processor. The laptop charges when turned off however will not charge while windows is running.
I tried removing the battery and turning on the laptop however laptop will not turn on,it does for a millisecond until lcd lits up and then shuts off. I tried switching power packs with one that is the exact same output and hz and same result. I tested voltage to battery bay and it appears normal while off however am unable to test without battery while turned on. I am thinking the resolution may not be hardware related, I am wondering if it might be a control(bios issue or etc).. and the reasoning behind my theory is windows shows the laptop as being plugged in,but not charging and drains the battery while active. |

Re: Toshiba Satellite p15s420 problems
What is your charger putting out? Most chargers will have 2 ratings on their sticker- one for trickle charge and one for "on" usage. my HP doesn't, but most will say something like 12.4VDC @ .83A for trickle and 13.8VDC @1.5A for "on".

Re: Toshiba Satellite p15s420 problems
My charger is rated at 19 v 3.95a exact same as old charger, To update my problem I have traced it back to software, I re installed windows xp the actual system not oem version and charger actually charged while turned on and then i installed toshiba drivers for xp and it stopped again so I am now undoing the toshiba drivers one by one to get further info on which software/hardware combo maybee at fault for my problem.I will update in further posts
