RAM Help
I am looking to boost my ram but I dont want to get something that won't work right with my PC. I will let you know what kind of pc i have in hopes you can help.
Computer Make: VIA Technologies, Inc. Computer Model: VT8366-8235 Motherboard Model: VT8366-8235 Processor: AMD Athlon XP 1.5Ghz Memory: 2 slots: 512 MB, empty I have XP service pack 2 as well. I'm also wanting to upgrade my video card as well which right now its an Nvidia GeForce2 mx 400 AGP. I don't really have the funds to throw down $300 to get a new motherboard and all that so if you could give me some advice as to what kind of RAM i need and a video card i can use it would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: RAM Help
The Commandment when upgrading RAM is it must be an exact match to your motherboard.
Therefore, your motherboard's manufacturer is the last word on what you need. There is a problem with some memory specs, they can leave out very important information. So if you order by written spec only, you could end up with RAM that will not work on your motherboard. I suggest you use 4AllMemory's [Check My System] applet. This will download a small, temporary, applet that will read your motherboard and return a WEB page showing you what you already have installed, memory slots, an a list of compatible memory upgrades. If your motherboard is a brand-name, it will have the motherboard manufacturer's part number (like for my MSI motherboard). Highly suggest you print the return WEB page for your records. Of course, you need not buy from 4AllMemory, but at least you'll know what you need. Also, I Googled "geforce agp" and got these hits. I have a GeForce 7300GT (512VRAM) at home. Re: RAM Help
The stuff i pasted was from 4allmemory. This is exactly what it is..
Your 4 All Memory System Scan Results: Computer Make: VIA Technologies, Inc. Computer Model: VT8366-8235 Computer Version: Motherboard Make: Motherboard Model: VT8366-8235 Motherboard Version: Processor: AMD Athlon XP 1.5Ghz Memory: 2 slots: 512 MB, empty It doesn't give any kind of motherboard make or anything. So i don't know what else to go by. Last edited by vicker316 : 06-12-2008 at 11:00 AM. |
