Greetings from Sweden! I found this excellent forum and decided to ask my question here as you seem to have alot of experienced users on the computer area.
I have a computer from Dell. Graphics card: Radeon X850 XT. Motherboard: Don't know.. ![]() RAM: 4x512MB DDR-2 RAMS. CPU: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3,73GHz. OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. You know that the RAM memories are plugged in to some sort of pair thingy. The sit a bit like this: Pair1-------Pair2-------Pair1--------Pair2 ____________________________________ And now the two Pair2 memories doesn't seem to work. I check bios and it says: 512MB-------Empty-------512MB--------Empty _________________________________________ I can't find any reason for this to happen! All the memories are of the same type.. I got them when I bought the computer. Though maybe 2 months ago I bought 2 new RAM's which I was gonna use to replace the old with, but they didn't fit so I couldn't use them. If I check the marking on the memories two of them have some text that ends with "05 07" and the other two ends with "05 06", are they pairs? I tried changing the memories in all different pairs but then the computer started to beep and sound really high, like a vacuum, and it didn't start up. Do you guys know anything that could be related to this problem, or any fixes? Or do I just have to lend the computer in to "DatorFixen" (The Computer Fix) in my hometown? =) //Zawyer Now I know the name of the thing you stick it in to. It's DIMM1 and DIMM2 ![]() Last edited by Zawyer : 06-10-2008 at 04:24 PM. |

Re: 2 of my RAM memories suddenly stopped working (GREETS FROM SWEDEN)
I think you are saying you tried switching the memory sticks in pairs but have you tried booting with only 1 stick in slot 1 try this for each stick, I think you may find only 1 is bad.

Re: 2 of my RAM memories suddenly stopped working (GREETS FROM SWEDEN)
Apperantely it seems to be the the DIMM connectors on the motherboard that isn't working properly. I switched the cards and it still says that the same DIMM connectors is empty... I guess I'll just send the damn thing to Datorfixen
