Re: my computer shuts off while playing cod4

Hi lao8118 and welcome to TSF !

Have you upgraded the power supply when you bought your new video card ? Newer cards will need more power.

What are your complete system specs ? Check the link in my sig. Open the computer case and give us the informations you'll find on the side of the power supply : brand, model, wattage, number of amps on the 12V rail.

What's the brand and model of your new video card ? (nvidia or ati are not brands, they're the chipset makers) What was the brand and model of your old card ?

Enter the BIOS at startup (repeatedly press del or look for some "press xx to enter setup" message). Search for an hardware monitor or pc health status screen and report your temps, fan speeds and voltages (+3.3, +5, +12V) from there.

edit : I'll move you to the power supply and ram support section since this is likely to be an hardware issue. They'll move you back to Windows if needed.

Also make sure you uninstalled your old video drivers and installed the latest ones for your new card.
