I can't help but wonder what is new in ddr3 that ddr2 didn't have. i looked up ddr3 but all i can find is information about how fast it is and how many more chips they can put on the modules. i was wondering what was different. i know since it is double data rate it has to be able to transmit data on the upper and lower clock ticks and i assume the mudules are dual inline but thats about all i know. I am in the process of getting an A+ certification to start a business in computer services that offers memory upgrades so i need to be able to choose the right memory for my clients.

Re: Ddr3 Sdram
right now DDR3 offers the computer world nothing; due to its double CAS latencies
when the prices come down to earth DDR3 may be worth a second look dont forget; back when systems were using DDR PC3200 memory that memory was and is faster than DDR2 until you buy sticks in excess of 800mhz but it was really the release of the next generation processors like Pentium D and Conroe that really had the performance boost and they only used DDR2 ............. basically what I point is / we will really need to wait for the next hoopla cpu that can make the most of what DDR3 has to offer
