I've seen this posted and followed about every solution presented but nothing seems to work for me.
PC turns off just as windows (XP) is loading up, can get into BIOS fine so assuming it was heat problem but seems not to be the case. Here is what I've tried: 1) Reset BIOS defaults and CMOS - actually worked for about 2 weeks after I did this and then the computer shuts off as it did before... now the reset has no effect when repeated. 2) Swapped out battery - no effect 3) Swapped out PSU - no effect... old PSU checks out, it's less than a year old... no new hardware added, it's a stock HP a522n computer 4) Reseated RAM (PC2700 512MB)... switched slots... then even tried a different stick in both - no effect 5) Reseated heat sink, new thermal paste - no effect 6) Cleaned out dust in case and tried running without cover and large fan blowing on it in case it's a heat issue - no effect I'm not a super tech so I'm not sure where to go next... bout ready to throw it out with the trash.......... ![]() Any help is appreciated! |
