Question Locating a RAM slot

Hello :P First time visiting here. Can anyone help me with this?
I purchased an Evesham Voyager 645 A30 series laptop several years ago. Back then, it was quite a capable machine. Now, however, it is rather petty. I don't often attempt to play high graphic games on it, but it seems that half a gb of RAM is just no longer enough. Knowing that this model has -two- RAM slots with a maximum capacity of 1gb (poor, but it'll do until I can find myself another computer) I set out to upgrade my RAM.
I managed to glean from several sites that:
It comes standard with one card of removable 512mb RAM
It contains two RAM slots
It has a maximum of 1gb of RAM.
I opened it up to see how many cards I had to get (in the case of my current 512mb being a combination of two cards) and was met with quite a predicament. While I need only buy one more card, I simply cannot tell where I would put it. Every specification list of this model proclaim that it has two RAM slots. However, only one is visably present. Admittedly, this is my first time swapping RAM in a laptop, but I assumed it would be fairly straightforward. Of course, you're not telepathic (presumably ), so with my old camera and poor photography skills, I present the case of the missing RAM slot:

The underside of my laptop. The door on the lower right is the CPU, while the top one is the Hard drive, ergo the RAM area is the one on the middle left.

The visible RAM slot, complete with my current RAM card

The visible RAM slot, incomplete without my current RAM card. As this is the only thing visible under the cover, I can't tell where another slot would be located. This is all rather inconclusive, until:

(There appears to be some discolouration in this picture, I don't know where that came from )
The opposite side of the RAM bay that normally contains my card appears to also have the gold connectors for another RAM card. There are two problems here: there are no rails or docking equipment on this side, and two, how on earth do you get a card into it? The casing's in the way.

Now, the easy way out would be to buy a 1gb card and replace my current with it. However, I feel that I'm missing something obvious which I shouldn't have to lose money over. It's also hard to find a 1gb card with the right chipset here in the UK for such an old model. Can anyone spread any light on this mystery?
