PC powers up, red loading light stays on, Ram problem?
hello, recently i was attacked by a virus, just when i thought i cleaned it out, i decided to now fix my internet problem. when i was toying with it i thought i had deleted an important component. so i used system restore. when it restarted, it would just keep on restarting. it would load up the logo, a progress bar, then the Windows XP progerss bar, and it would just keep doing that, i would have tried to use safe mode, but i couldnt because it wouldn't give me the option. so i read somewhere that it was a RAM problem. i switched both 512 MB ram cards into opposite slots. and then it would start up, but no loading screen. so i put them back in their order, and still No dice. so now it will power up, but the red loading light by the reset button stays on for hours on end.
please help, this is my work computer as it has most of my games, and all my Adobe and Macromedia Programs, which will be very expensive to get on my new computer as i have had those for ages, and no longer have the CD's. Specs 2001 Home built MSI computer Intel Pentium 4 proccesor 2.4Ghz 2 PC 2100 (i think) ram 512Mb each 1 Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 graphics card internal hard drive (E) external hard drive (C) ask for anything else |
