More RAM...

Hey. New user here.

First of all, here's my full PC specs:

AMD Athlon 64 San Diego 3700+ 2.21GHz
1GB G.Skill ZX Series DDR PC3200 (DDR400)
ATi Radeon X1800XT (256MB)
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2

My motherboard is ASUS A8N-E

As you can see, I have 1GB RAM (2 x 512MB sticks for dual channel) and I want 2GB since it's the standard now not just for gaming but general use.

My first question is would it be OK to get a different kind of RAM? Another 2 x 512MB sticks obviously, but the RAM I have is selling at £45 or thereabouts and that's way too expensive for me. Would it be alright to get another 2 x 515MB sticks, PC3200, DDR400 but just a different make?

If you can suggest some (cheapish but good) RAM that's compatible with my system for purchase in the UK please don't hesitate to post your ideas.

Second question is how much of a difference will it actually make? For example, I can run CoD4 at 1280x1024 on medium settings and get about 20-40 frames per second (it's pretty choppy). Would the extra 1GB cure that completely if not majorly?

Hope to get some input soon.

Cheers!
