Computer won't power up.
Okay....about 2 years ago I was using my upstairs computer when I smelt burning...a wireless usb network adapter has melted into the USB port and the computer lost power. I promptly removed the USB device but there was some bits which had burnt into the USB port. Anyway put the computer in storage and have just dug it out with the intention of sticking Linux on it. Anyway the computer doesn't power up still so I opened it up and unplugged the USB ports....the USB ports are still lodged in the computer but not linked up to the powerpack or anything, they're totally unplugged. I've tried powering it up again and it still doesn't work.
Now it would appear the computer shorted out....I was thinking it's a safety mechanism...but I'm not sure. Any idea on how I might get it working again...or if my Power Packs fudge? Thanks. |
