Question about my upgrade and if my PSU will handle it.
Greetings all.
First off just a quick thanks to you who have taken the time to read this thread and hopefully dispense sage advice *grins*. Right, to the matter. I'm intending on upgrading my system but in order to save money I'm attempting to keep my current Power Supply. I've done extensive research on the matter and it seems my new upgrade could be handled by my current PSU without too much fuss; however I would just like your opinions to be sure :) Current PSU: Antec SmartPower 2.0: 450 Watts +5V~30A; +12V1~15A; +12V2~17A; +3.3V~32A; -12V~0.3A; +5Vsb~2A Machine that the PSU is intending to power: Gigabyte Intel GA-P35-DS3L Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU - 3.0Ghz OCZ System Elite Edition Memory - DDR2-800MHz - 1GB x4 (Dual Channel) XFX nVidia GeForce 8800GT Zalman Edition - 512MB - PCI-E Creative Sound Blaster Audigy ZS 2 - PCI Western Digital SATA HDD 7200rpm - 120GB x2 Seagate ATA HDD 7200rpm - 80GB DVD-RAM Drive Stock CPU Cooler Internal Fans 120mm x3 (drawing power off PSU rails) I don't intend to overclock the machine or add any more peripherals or devices than stated above. That's it then I believe, any suggestions, advice or opinions are much appreciated. And thank you all for the help! Kind Regards, Pythos P.S. If I attach a small UPS (in terms of capacity) to my PSU (which I normally do) would it affect the PSU's ability to draw power at all? I generally use a small UPS so that during a power-cut I have around four minutes to save my work and exit. Again, much thanks. |
