OS: microsoft windows xp media center edition version 2002 service pack 2

ram
my computer comes with a 1gig ram, i bought a new 1 put it in and ran up and then it says 504mb, decreased by 500 or so...i fryed the one it came with and the one i bought wont work cause i just found out its a 1.8v when my comp is 2.5v
