Upgrading from 1gb to 4gb problems.

Hi,

I used to have 1gb of RAM before (in 2x 512gb sticks), and today my 4x 1gb sticks arrived in the mail.

I have tried putting all of the 4x 1gb sticks in, and when turning my cpu on, where the black screen is with the information (forgot it's name sorry.. bios maybe?) it says that I have 4gb, but when I fully load, and go into My Computer, it says I only have 2gb.

I played around, and tried out 2x 1gb sticks, and my old 2x 512gb sticks in at the same time, and in my bios(?) screen it says that I have 3gb, and when I go into My Computer, it says I have 2.5gb, anyone know what could be the problem?

P.s. I have an ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 Motherboard, and on the website it says it can hold up to 4gb of ram, and is compatible with the RAM I bought (PC3200 1GB DDR400MHz)

Oh and I'm currently on Windows XP if that helps.

Thanks.

You need the 64bit version of XP for windows to recognize all the RAM.

The BIOS will register 4GB but windows its self will only be using around 2.5 - 3GB
