Power Supply failure, Need Help Check it out.

Hay folksneed help here. I have a PS failure I think and need to verify that it is the PS before I go out and get another one. First I have the PS pull out of the system and on the bench and me Volt meter in hand.
Problem how do you get the darn thing to swtch on!!! what connections are from the switch on the front panel of the computer.

Computer type HP Pavillon Xe783
PS is a model ATX100-5 Bestec Power Electronics Corp.

Orginal problem is > push button on front panel nothing happening > no fans, no power, no nothing.

It has two plugs directly two/from the PCI mother board One mark fan-c
, second marked P1. It also has a connection labeled P8 but is not used. The rest are to the HD,CD /RW and 3.5 " drives.

The front panel Switch is connected to the PCI board and Three sets of twisted pair wires.

Can's me TSF friend help here.

Re: Power Supply failure, Need Help Check it out.

Hay folks. I may have hit on something. I took the PS out to the shop and found that I had aold computer with simular PS, after making sure wiring / and connections and power size where the same. I felt it was safe to connect it and try it out. While the the old computere did not work, it did prove that the PS was good and a voltages where Correct-O- mun-go. I return the PS back to the ogrinal sys only to found it still did not run, But found and bad connection from the HD loose to the PCI main. This is a puzzil to me because I have not connected the PS power connection back to the HD drive or other parameter as yet. I a;so checked the switch assy to be ok. any suggection here what may be going on?
