quick ram question
working on a friends computer, and i am adding ram. there is already a 256mb running in one slot. other slot is empty. do both ram sticks have to be the same in memory size? or can a buy, say a 512 stick and pop it in the second slot and work fine with the 256?

Oh, im sorry didnt realize it was that specific of a question.
 Its an emachine T2245. Not sure of company who makes the motherboard, but the bus speed is 400mhz.Ram is Nanya DDR PC2100 266MHZ |

They do not need to be the same size as long as the total amount of memory does not exceed 2GB.
