Question not sure but ram is the problem

ok ive got two 512mb ram cards or that wat is says on them but shouldnt two 512 = 1gig? but i took 1 out to see if it was faulty but instead it showed 256mb of ram so i was wonderin if the shop has sold me two 256mb ram cards or if theres a setting or somethign somewere to half the amount of ram u have??

Physical Memory : 512 MB (2 x 256 DDR-SDRAM )

so i suppose they sold me 2 256mb cards?

What are your system specs? Motherboard, CPU, etc.

You may have bought high density ram that your motherboard cannot address properly. With high density ram incompatiblity issues, your system will either not boot at all or the ram will recognized as only been half of it's actual size. Thus a 512mb module would only be seen as a 256mb module.
