I'm going to upgrade my RAM from 768 MB to 2 GB (maybe more)

My question is....will I have to get a new power supply???? When I upgraded to 768 MB a couple years ago, I had to get a new power supply installed because my old one couldn't handle the upgrade in RAM.

Normally, the upgrade in ram won't require a new power supply, unless you are grosely underpowered. The problem we have is that we need your specs of the rig and the watts and brand name of the power supply to know how balanced your system is in resources vs. needs of the computer. Then, we might be able to supply you with a better answer.

Before I bother getting into the nitty gritty of my system specs....is the fact that I use an APC Battery backup power supply relevant???

If you don't know your hardware, I recommend you use Everest: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1072

Your power supply specifications will be on the label stuck to the casing of your unit.
