You obviously have ON-Board Video, so some of your system ram is being set aside for the video driver chip to use as video ram. That's the way they work....nothing new there! But that definitely does NOT leave you enough ram to run Windows XP with any kind of efficiency at all. XP will start running decent with 1 gig of ram available to it and much better with 2 gigs available. DDR SDRAM is an older style of ram that's getting hard to find at anything like a decent price. *But you must use the same type and speed. With DDR ram, you can add just one stick at a time. Not so with DDR2. So if you have an empty ram slot on your motherboard, add one stick of 1 gigabyte DDR, PC2100 SDRAM and you should be good to go. Do stay with a major brand of ram like Corsair. Crucial is another reliable brand of ram and they have a good reference section on their site. www.crucial.com Just type in the make and model of your PC and they can tell you exactly what you need and sell it to you too. Stay away from Kinston. Good Luck, The Shadow
