Vostro 200 adding PNY 2 sticks
OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600 OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Manufacturer Dell Inc. System Model Vostro 200 System Type X86-based PC Processor x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 2 GenuineIntel ~1596 Mhz BIOS Version/Date Dell Inc. 1.0.3, 7/12/2007 SMBIOS Version 2.5 Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32 Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1 Locale United States Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)" Time Zone Eastern Daylight Time Total Physical Memory 2,048.00 MB Available Physical Memory 1.55 GB Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB Page File Space 3.33 GB Page File C:\pagefile.sys I bought two PNY 2gb sticks for my Vostro 200 desktop. I read on many sites that it could go to 4gb. It only works with one in at a time. When the other is in, the computer restarts over and over and over without showing the BIOS. My assumption is power...? Maybe? I really believed this thing could and should handle it. Is there something I can do to up the Available Virtual Memory? The other stick is 4 mb too short...and that sucks... |

Re: Vostro 200 adding PNY 2 sticks
I found a clue to your problem on the web site. http://crucial.com/store/listparts.a...20Mini%20Tower
It says that you can get 4GB, but can only put a maximum of 1GB per slot. So you need 4 1GB chips to get there.
