Hey all, last weekend I switched on my computer as normal, it ran okay for 2 minutes then the power went off, when I turned it back on, i heard a small bang and then I could smell that it had burnt out.
I assumed that it would just be the power supply that had gone, so I took it to my local "PCWorld" and they sold me one which "is exactly the same". However yesterday I installed the PSU to my machine, pressed the switch, and nothing.. the fan on PSU doesnt even move for a split second... Im hoping that my motherboard has not been fried .After stumbling across this forum I read a post which mentioned something about voltage levels... Here is what I can tell you about my PSU's. ////OLD BURNT OUT PSU //// Brand : Delux Model : DLP-350W P4 DC Output (Max) +5V +12V +3.3V -12V -5V +5VSB 32A 18A 28A 0.8A 0.5A 2A //////////////////////////////////////// ////NEW PSU //// Brand : Jeantech Model : JNP-350P DC Output (Max) +5V +3.3V +12V1 +12V2 -12V +5VSB 20A 20A 10A 13A 0.5A 2A More info here //////////////////////////////////////// This is the motherboard I Have.. If anybody could advise me on what to do next, i would be very grateful. Hope you can help Regards Kieran (Dj-Kiwi) |

Re: No Power to Motherboard.
hey Underclocker, thanks for the speedy reply, unfortunately nothing lights up on the motherboard, plus I dont have a suitable computer i can try this PSU in at the moment either :(
Do the voltage levels in my previous post add up? Is there something not right there? I Would really love to get this PC working again, but failing that i'll have to fork out the cash for a new one. regards Kieran |

Re: No Power to Motherboard.
You can inspect your motherboard for any broken capacitors since you said you heard a pop. However because the mobo LED doesn't light up I think it might be faulty, I can't really think of anything else that could be a cause of this problem. Anyone else around here have any ideas?

Re: No Power to Motherboard.
If you bought a new PSU and if you correctly attached PSU to your motherboard with no green LED turned on, then it probably that your Mobo is dead.
See if capacitors on your Mobo released some juice :) , if so then I think it is def Mobo. But can you replace just Mobo, not all PC? |

Re: No Power to Motherboard.
thanks for replies, i have checked mobo for damaged capacitors and cant see any..
As this is a "old" computer P4 3Ghz, i may aswell bite the bullet and get a newer computer. If anybody else has any ideas, it would be appreciated :) |

Re: No Power to Motherboard.
upon further inspection, i checked my new PSU 20 pin connector, and it looks like theres 1 missing
![]() its the 3rd one from the right on the top. See below OOOOOOO OOO OOOOOOOOOO checking with my old burnt out PSU there is not one missing, there is a yellow cable in there.. Im guessing i should take this PSU back to PCWorld? |

Re: No Power to Motherboard.
on a normal atx supply 1 pin is vacant
put the plugs alongside of one another and check the same coloured wires go to the same pins your m/b may be a propriatary one and need a propriatary psu you can check them here if you scroll down the page http://www.playtool.com/pages/psucon...onnectors.html
