How much Ramm needed?

I am thinking of buying windows vista but it needs 1gig of Ramm
Also with the 8800GT I am also going to be purchasing online it says it also needs about 1gig of Ramm is this just for installation or to run it during games.
I only have 2gig of OCZ 6400 800Mhz DDR2 Ramm and was wondering it I need to more to run these?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

I have seen great sucess with gaming when running two x one gig sticks and a matched pair of 2 x 512 = total = 3 gigs

that configuration seems faster than 4 x one gig sticks

Thanks also I have seen some Crucial Ballistix 1000Mhz on www.overclockers.co.uk for £37 for 2 gig.

Is it good to Run two different makes or ramm at different speeds?

As I would rather sell my OCZ 800MHz ramm and get this 1000MHz ramm for much faster performance.

Re: How much Ramm needed?

the 800mhz PC6400 ram ran actually keep pace quite nicely up to 1600mhz effective FSB (dual channel) especailly with its low latencies (4-4-4-12)

Roll Eyes Re: How much Ramm needed?

QUESTION?
I'm new to the whole PC gaming thing. And I wanted to upgrade my computer with a new video card and ram stick.

My question is, I have an E-Machine T3516 with a 512 DDR SDRAM ram stick. And I was wondering could I put a DDR2 SDRAM stick, even though a DDR SDRAM stick came factory on my PC? Sounds the same.

Somebody help me please!

Re: How much Ramm needed?

please dont hijack someone else's thread / its very confusing to give answers to multiple posters.

the proper thing to do is start your own thread and then you will be assured of answers that are custom tailored for YOU

BTW: no you wont be able to use DDR2 memory >>>>> DDR1 memory which is what you have has 184 pins >>>> DDR2 has 240 pins
