no POST. after adding ram

Did you ever get it fixed. I had the exact same problem today when trying to add memory. Now all I get is the same beep, even with just the original memory installed. Any thoughts before I replace the motherboard?

Thanks

Re: no POST. after adding ram

check the ram is seating properly
don't rely on the clips clicking over as it is not always seated
does the new ram match that what is already in there

Re: no POST. after adding ram

The lone 512m chip is firmly seated. All peripherals have been disconnected, still no luck. All I did was try to change memory.

Re: no POST. after adding ram

try a cmos reset
turn the computer off
remove the power lead from the back
take the side off
remove the cmos battery
move the cmos jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pin 2 and 3 and the back to pins 1 and 2
replace the battery
put the side on
replug in the power lead
boot the computer
