computer beeps consistantly and will not boot

I was loading XP into an older computer that had win98se.
Everything was OK until I got message Inadequate space to continue loading.
I thought it was a problem with memory so I pulled the chips to see what I had. When I put back in and tried to reboot all I got was the consistant beeping.
I have tried unsuccessfully to determine the cause but unable to correct situation.
Can any one help

check the sequence of the beeps here
