RAM is running at lower speed
I have an Biostar TA770 A2+, 2 GB PC6400 PATRIOT DDR2 800, AMD Athlon XP 5000+. Noticed something that was different(I think) after an unsuccessful OC attempt(cleared CMOS).
On POST, it says something like: CPU0 RAM: 2GB DDR2 667 MHZ blah blah blah. It thinks my RAM is DDR2 667 instead of 800. Windows DOES detect it correctly so is there an issue here? Will it be running slower? I'm just a little wary of digging into the BIOS OC options again. |

Re: RAM is running at lower speed
I would go in and check to see if the ram multiplier is set properly. Maybe your CPU is underclocked?
Either way, changing the multiplier will allow you to balance the frontside bus speed (for the CPU) with the ram bus speed. Just set it so that it's as close to 800 as you can make it.
