Think it's time.

Okay so here are the specs.

Dell XPS 400
Pentium D Processor 830 with Dual Core Tech. (3GHz, 800FSB)
2 GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz-4DIMMs
256MB nVidia Geforce 8600 GTS OC
160GB HD @ 7200RPM

I'm not trying to go CRAZY gaming experience here but im pretty sure my comp should be able to handle Counter-Strike Source and Day of Defeat Source at okay FPS without bottlenecking down to 20fps at some points. It never used to do this. VSYNC is not on and my settings in the nVidia control panel are all performanced based. AA is on off doesnt really matter cause i still bottleneck.

The only thing that really catches me is the fact that the min requirement for the nVidia geforce 8600 GTS OC is a 375W psu. And thats exactly what i have. So i dont know if that is bogging down the performance. Any suggestions? I used to play CS:S fine but since lately iv'e been getting these huge fps drops.

Re: Think it's time.

I suspect it is your power supply as they age over time and put out less than advertised. In addition, be sure to check that it has a bare minimum of 26 amps on the +12 rail (look on the side of the supply) or it simply is in over it's head in trying to pull this card.
