[PROBLEM] Applications closes themselves !!!

I've bought 2 sticks of DDR PC2-5300 ram ( 1gb each ) recently .
I had 256mb ram before that , after buying the ram , i tried installing both of them together , each into each slot , removing the 256mb ram .
I can boot up my computer without any problems after installing the new ram but when i open applications like firefox and IE ,
they close by itself after awhile . I can only use 1 of the ram together with the old 256 mb ram .
( I've also tested the ram by switching their positions , and replacing them for using with the 256mb ram )

I need help on how to solve this problem because I've checked my system from Memory upgrades, flash media, and usb storage at Crucial.com and it says my computer supports 2gb maximum ,
it should be working now ,
but i don't know why the windows behaves like this.

This is my memory specs from crucial currently :

* Maximum Memory Capacity: 2048MB
* Currently Installed Memory: 1.25GB
* Available Memory Slots: 0
* Number of Banks: 2
* Dual Channel Support: Yes
* CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
* CPU Family: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.93GHz Model 4, Stepping 1
* CPU Speed: 2926 MHz

And this is some of the stuffs i got from the Belarc Advisor :

ACER Aspire T650/E500/AP F5 R02-A3
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
2.93 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
1024 Megabytes Installed Memory
Radeon Xpress 200 Series (Omega 3.8.442) [Display adapter]

Hope some one can provide a solution to this .

I also get an application error when i tried playing CS Source , it says memory can't be read or some thing like that , Hope to solve this problem soon.

I can't take screenshots because windows keeps closing applications .

Leave the 256mb stick of ram out of the computer and see if the machine runs fine.
