Missing memory

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 which had 512MB of ram. I have just added another 1GB stick. But my PC is reporting that i only have 1024MB. Is there a reason why this may happen. My Laptop can take uptp 2GB ?

Thank you

Si soft sandra says i have 1024MB too

Re: Missing memory

You may have fried that 512mb stick. Try pulling the 1gig stick out and see if your laptop can see the 512mb stick. If it can't then you probably fried that stick when you upgraded it.
