I have an hp slimline s3223w desktop with amd athlon 64 x2 dual-core processor 4400+ Motherboard m2N61-AR Acacia-GL6E. OS vista home premium
It came with 1gb memory in way of 2x512mb 240 pin pc2-5300 modules. The specs say maximum allowed is 4gb (2x2gb) But my system is 32 bit so i'm pretty sure it can only accomadate 3.3 gb. How can i get 3 gb. out of 2 slots? Is there such a thing as 1.5 gb memory modules? I guess my question is: How much memory am i able to install? Do the dimm slots have to have the same amount of memory in each to work? very appreciative for any relply Marva |

Re: Ram Upgrade
Here is an easy way to find out.
Go to 4AllMemory and use their [Check My System] applet. A small, temporary, WEB applet will be downloaded, read your motherboard, and return a WEB page showing what you need for memory upgrade. It includes a readout of how may memory slots you have, and what you have installed now. The thing to remember, is memory must be exactly compatible with your motherboard. Unfortunately many text descriptions are missing crucial data. What this applet returns will be exactly what you need for your motherboard. By the way, suggest you print the results and file for future reference. Disclaimer: I am, and never have been, associated with 4AllMemory. Just a satisfied customer.

Re: Ram Upgrade
Thanks for the info. The memory4all website however was not able to help me. The pluggin you referred to that checks your pc for exact match of memory. Would not even install because my virus software found spyware , adware in it and wouldn't allow it.
But all in all you answered my questions anyway. Since i already knew what type of memory i need. I just wasn't sure of what size . Thanks so much! |
