PC133 SDRAM 1G MSI 845GLMS-L ???Help!??

I am having a little trouble figuring out if a particular memory stick will work in this new MB. It is an MSI-6745 aka 845GLMS-L.
First, here is the mfg spec link to the MSI MB I am speaking about:
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?f...170&cat3_no=4#

The memory I want to use, for $$ reasons, is the following:
1GB (2x512) PC133Mhz SDRAM DIMM
Size: 2 X 512MB
Speed: PC133 (133MHz)
Type: 168 Pin SDRAM
Registered/Unbuffered: Unbuffered Non-Parity, Non-ECC
Chip Configuration: 64 x 4 High Density (DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY 64 X 4)
Condition: New
Voltage: 3.3 Volt Memory Module
Here is the actual link for the memory on EBAY: http://tinyurl.com/2kbnr8

I have read many sites and forums about memory and am a little confused by now. However, the mfg states the 2 memory slots I have can handle
2GB, 1GB per slot. Also, only one slot needs to be filled for it to work. The mfg shows in the manual the following chart:

SLOT MEMORY MODULE TOTAL MEMORY
DIMM 1
(Bank 0&1) S/D 64MB~1GB

DIMM 2
(Bank 2&3) S/D 64MB~1GB
S: Single Sided D: Double Sided

To me it appears that this memory will work, but I need a second or third opinion please if you guys could help me out on this one.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

I can offer this, a lot of boards will not work with high density memory. Even the eBay site warns of this and I could find nothing on the ECS site.

Yea, I am aware of that. Why the ECS website? I gave a link to the MSI website and the board I have. Does ECS make MSI boards or something?

Re: PC133 SDRAM 1G MSI 845GLMS-L ???Help!??

Yea, I just found this Compatibility Test Report on MSI's site. It was listed under their Service>Technical Support>Test Report and then looking up the board. Now to figure out what configuration these that tested ok in the 512MB range were.
http://global.msi.com.tw/uploads/tes...t/TR10_522.pdf

OMG, I just found this first search Toshiba (Kingston) 256MB for $2!

Not that I would buy it, but that is ridiculous and that is one they tested.

Re: PC133 SDRAM 1G MSI 845GLMS-L ???Help!??

All right, here it is...

After everything, I just bought 2 512mb (Crucial) low density chips to put on the board.

I don't think they make single stick 1G PC133 in low density. The board only has 2 memory slots and they handle 1G in each for a total of 2G. The only way I can find to get that level is to put in High Density chips. Since it is not my machine, I just went with what I know will work, which is Low Density.

At some point the memory/cpu/OS age dictates the reasonable amount of memory anyway and I think 1G on a Celeron 2.20Ghz running XP Pro should be sufficient or they need to go ahead an build a newer unit, IMHO that is.

Thanks for the help though!

Dave
