(SOLVED) Cost of service to upgrade RAM...

Hello... this is probably somewhat of an odd question, but I would like to know about how much it would cost to take a laptop computer in and have the RAM upgraded.

I do not mean the cost of new RAM, but rather the service of having a professional replace old RAM with new and already paid for RAM.

I have heard that it costs about $30 or so. Sadly, I live in a smal town and no businesses are nearby that I could ask and confirm. I would like to know, as I am demonstrating how to replace RAM in a my college speech class, and I would like to provide an example of how much money you can save doing it yourself.

Thanks for any help!

Okay... it looks to be around $50... Thanks for the help!

Re: Cost of service to upgrade RAM...

Call up the closest Best Buy to you, look on their website, and ask to talk with the Geek Squad folks and ask them. They should tell you what it would cost for them to upgrade the ram for you.

My guess is that it is around $50, but that's a WAG.

Hehe... you would think I'd have heard of a phone by now, huh? Lol, I didn't think of that at all...for reasons completely unknown to me. Thanks a lot for the suggestion! I will get right on that.

Hi Jiller,

Also I recommend doing some research on how to install the ram yourself. It is not that hard and probably best buy will charge a grip to install ram, which will take less than 5min. good luck

Re: Cost of service to upgrade RAM...

That is what my speech is on... installing RAM yourself. I have already done it on my computer and have to present how to do it in class.
