Roll Eyes New pc crazy lag

technically its an upgrade but not really.
i just bought;
Asus am2 m2n-se plus mobo
amd athlon x2 6000 3.0Ghz
Msi nvidia 8600gt
2gb ddr2 kingston 600 ram
500 watt psu

All thats left from my old ancient dell xps is the ide HDD. I reinstalled windows, defragmented, downloaded all the latest drivers. So far its olny been on the internet for a few hours, although i still ran avg, addaware and a mem scrub and startup process cleaner.
When i play half life 1, cs condition zero and crysis, it has wierd lag. for 5 seconds it will run beautifully and the processor use is around 70 percent. the next 5 seconds will be less than 1fps and cpu usage goes up to high 90's. Im running windows xp home which is 32 bit, and my cpu is 64bit. oh yeah and i ran 3d mark '03. the same lag appeared. the score was around 6800. help with the lag?

Re: New pc crazy lag

I would recomend you check your temperatures with a program like Everest Home or Speedfan. Something in the computer, like the CPU could be getting too hot and throttling back.

Also, what brand is your power supply? If it's not a quality brand, it might not be delivering enough power and thus could be causing the issue.
