2 types of ram

Ok, I currently run OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400). My question has to deal with install some more memory. I want to purchase OCZ Vista Upgrade 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Memory for my other two slots. I believe the Cas Latency is 4 on the Platinum and 5 on the Vista Upgrade. And I run Vista 64-bit so I can see more then 3.0 something that you see when you run 32-bit. What my question deals with is can i mix the platinum & the vista upgrade memory or do i have to buy another set of platinum memory?

Re: 2 types of ram

Personally I would stick with the same as you have now. Vista does not require special memory just lots of it.

Re: 2 types of ram

I personally would like to run 6GB of Ram instead of the 4GB because my CAD software likes to eat up huge chunks when I have large assemblies. So do you think mixing the two kinds of OCZ memory I mentioned is fine.

Re: 2 types of ram

I don't see why it shouldn't work as long as the MOB will support 2 gig moduals. since you are running CAD amd if the MOB supports the 2 gig moduals you might look at just going to 8 Gig with CAD, like you said CAD likes lots of memory.
You may have to tweak the CL on the memory (in the bios).
good luck
